Job description

Glenburnie Lodge Care Community is a luxury care home in Wenvoe. We are now recruiting for a Head Housekeeper to supervise the Housekeeping Team.

JOB PURPOSE:

· To provide a comprehensive housekeeping service for all residents, employees and visitors to the care home. Holding overall responsibility for the daily operations of the housekeeping department. To lead the team of Domestic Assistants, including Laundry Assistants, to ensure that the interior of the establishment, furniture, fitting and fixtures are clean, tidy and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

· Maintain a clean, safe working environment in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, in line with accepted best practice and within the financial plans agreed.

· Managing, training and working with the Home Director to recruit and manage an effective housekeeping team.

· To actively participate within your role in a service that is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

Main Responsibilities:

· Take the lead and assist the Home Director to supervise a team of domestic staff to tidy, clean and polish the furniture, fitting and fabric of the establishment to specified standards and frequencies, including using electrical or mechanical aids. Take the lead in making suggestions for the improvements of the Domestic team working schedules.

· Encourage and facilitate induction training for newly appointed Domestic and Laundry Assistants and provide information to the Home Manager for appraisal for those staff.

· Manage effectively and within agreed budgetary allowances housekeeping supplies and to liaise with Glenburnie Lodge Care Community suppliers so as to ensure that supplies are delivered to enable the service to be managed effectively

· Take responsibility for the checking of all goods and supplies required by the Domestic team and report shortages and order requirements to the Home Director.

· Carry out elementary checks of equipment used by the Domestic team, and refer any defects which require attention to the Home Director

· Overall responsibility for supervisions and personal development reviews for all housekeeping staff.

· Attend appropriate training sessions and staff meetings as requested by the Home Director.

· Adhere to the Health and Safety Manual and be aware of emergency procedures and report hazards to the Home Manager. Respond to emergencies as appropriate.

· Take the lead on Staff Roster for the Housekeeping Team

· Undertake additional duties from time to time within the responsibility level of the post.

· Support the implementation, orientation and induction of new employees.

· Be responsible for developing own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

· Attend all statutory and mandatory training sessions, to comply with professional/legislative requirements.

· Comply with Glenburnie Lodge Care Community’s dress code whilst on duty.

Glenburnie Lodge Care Community is a luxury care home in Wenvoe. We are looking for someone to join our team as a Housekeeping Assistant on a full time or part time basis. Some weekend working will be required.

Main Responsibilities:

· To clean resident’s bedrooms, communal areas, corridors, visitor’s cloakrooms, private dining space, and all areas of the Home that are not the responsibility of the Catering department.

· To clean floors, work surfaces, and related equipment manually and also by use of the equipment provided.

· To assist in the Home’s laundry, adhering to policies and procedures relevant to working in the Laundry. Ensuring that all daily, weekly and monthly records are kept as required.

· To wear all appropriate PPE equipment for specific activities.

· To ensure that proper standards of cleanliness are maintained.

· To exercise due diligence and to ensure that standards of hygiene are strictly maintained.

· To comply with requirements of cleaning schedules and ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly records are kept as required.

· To ensure that adequate and safe storage of all housekeeping products and equipment.

· To comply with regulations in respect of Health & Safety at Work, COSHH, Environmental Health and Fire Procedures.

· To promptly report all mechanical defects and hazards to the Head Housekeeper.

· Support the implementation, orientation and induction of new employees.

· Be responsible for developing own skills and knowledge.

· Attendance at specialist equipment training is mandatory.

· Comply with Glenburnie Lodge Care Community’s dress code whilst on duty.

· Be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself, other staff, residents and visitors. Reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the Head Housekeeper or the Person in Charge.

· Adhere to all of Glenburnie Lodge Care Community’s policies and procedures.

· Adhere to the protection of vulnerable adults and the whistleblowing policy.

Ensuring that workplace training is take in accordance with requirements.
